The American Dental Association recognizes that there are multiple facets involved in maintaining good oral health. It starts with the consistency and quality of your daily oral hygiene routine. Unfortunately, dubious claims made by certain manufacturers can sometimes obscure the difference between a quality oral hygiene product and a cosmetic one.

To address this serious issue, the American Dental Association instituted their Seal of Acceptance program. Since its inception in 1931, it has become the industry standard for identifying a high-quality oral hygiene product.

A product’s participation in the program is voluntary. If a manufacturer wants to earn the ADA Seal of Acceptance for an oral hygiene product, they can submit it to the ADA for testing and research.

The ADA then tests the active ingredients for safety and effectiveness in an oral hygiene routine. If the product meets the rigorous guidelines, it will earn the right to print the Seal of Acceptance on the label. This means you should feel confident in its ability to help maintain the good oral health of you and your family.

To further help consumers with their research, the ADA also provides an index of all oral hygiene products that have earned the seal on their website.
